This paper aims at exploring mechanisms and main causes of work related stresses and burnout syndrome (emotional exhaustion) in teachers and describes main strategies of coping with stress provoking situations. The sample included 140 elementary school teachers from six Omsk schools. The following methods were used in the study: 1) Boyko Emotional Burnout Test 2) Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) 3) Professional stressors and coping strategies table (based upon the criteria developed by V.I. Zhuravlev.
